Lionel PreWar #225E 2-6-2 Locomotive with #2245W Whistle Tender from 1938 to 1942 production years. Note: Second last bottom of tender incorrectly stamped “2224T” – frame may have been switched while trucks & whistle from a 2245W or a 2224W (identical metal tenders) were added over the past 80 yrs… Prewar mystery since this was not in my family and do not know the full history. Layout Tested, Oiled, Cleaned and Lubed to run well and operate as designed.
Lionel 262 Loco Rare Orange Stripe has Bent Cab Prewar O gauge X6643
Very rare variation of 262 enameled metal and diecast 2-4-2 loco, made early 1930’s. Loco is gloss black with mostly copper trim, brass plates, has factory orange stripe on frame and details on pilot. Orange detail is all original, but shows wear. Pilot is missing 1 tooth, otherwise frame is original/complete and solid. There is a crack at brass air tank 1 side. Cab has a bend in rear of roof, boiler front latches as it should, copper trim has tarnish. Wheels are all solid originals, few spots on side rods. Motor ran and hand-reversed with switch in cab, headlight worked. Loco has issues as noted, but a very rare variation. All Items, including N. (new-old-stock), are graded and represented as vintage collectibles. Operational ability and characteristics or completeness of vintage motors, mechanisms, wiring, bulbs etc are not guaranteed. 261 Prewar 2-4-2 Steam Locomotive & 257T Tender Set. Made in 1931 by The Lionel Corporation in New York. The set includes the following. Lionel Prewar “O” gauge 2-4-2 no. Matching Lionel Prewar Tender with load intact. Locomotive measures 9.5 inches long not including couplers. Tender measures 6 inches.
Lionel 1684 Loco Rare Gunmetal 027 Diecast Prewar O gauge X6285
Very RARE and over-looked diecast 2-4-2 loco was made about 1940 has the same casting as an O-gauge 204, but with 027 motor. It was made for late-production 027 sets and is almost always seen in dull black with stamped cab numbers. A very few were made in gunmetal finish with silver stamped numbers. So few were made that the “TCA Standard of the World” book does not list a gunmetal 1684 except for a brief mention in the Addenda section on page 158. No photo was available and it is referred to as an 027 Hiawatha. This is a factory-original production loco, not a repaint or prototype. There is some wear, mainly edges and details. Loco has good/readable cab numbers, good markers/steps/cab roof corners, complete side rods. Tender not included but will go with your gunmetal 1689T type. All Items, including N.
