LIONEL Prewar 158 Engine GRAY 1923/24, Serviced-runs-Antique, Restored, runs, Nice

Nice old 158 Lionel, they were only made in 1923/24 scarcer type. Same size as the 150 but dummy head light. Bought it but had much work on the engine, wheels, Pick ups. Cab damage, Frame damaged, wires repainted. Vintage/Antique Lionel 158 Prewar 0-4-0 Electric engine. Dummy Head lights are on all 158’s. To restore these from almost junk take many hours, parts and finding the old prewar parts are getting very hard to find. I try to save every old part, fix them, and polish them to look good. Like restoring a old car you never get you value of your time. It’s just a hobby to get them back one the road. After painting and adding the decals I put a coat of clear coat over the whole shell to protect it from chipping and the decals from wearing. The 158 Engines runs only in one direction forward and is shorter than the 152/153. You only run them one way anyway. I when over this engine and re-painted the shell and frame. After completed I put a coat of clear coat to protect the decals and prevent rust on hand rails. This one was in real bad condition but now back on the road again. Good wheels and pick ups, and Re wired. Runs slow to fast speed. See last pictures of it running. Lubed, Over 90 years old. 1923/24 THE Description is the pictures. I went over it and serviced it. Repaired and replaced what was needed to make it like it is. Runs, Serviced, Very nice runner, lubed, try to used most original parts and cleaned them up, Check out the pictures. Lionel Prewar 253 Engine-restored, serviced tested & runs great. Red-Read Descip

Very nice restored Red 253 engine. Lots of time involved also having to make parts not available. If my price seems high I want you to know that I usually put 6-10+ hours of labor restoring it to the condition it is at now. Plus I usually put Fifty to one Hundred ++ dollars in refurbished or new parts. They are almost impossible to find anymore. And are not cheap. Sometimes less sometimes more. If you want one cheaper you may have to repair it and its costly. Even the new parts do not fit and have to be modified. It is a very nice Lionel 253 restored Great condition. I had clean all the brass, wheels are new, serviced and rewired. Install a repaired reversing switch, lube and replace brushes. Cleaned up very nice. See the last pictures of it running. Runs great is both directions. Service and added new wires. Tested it running in forward and reverse. I serviced the motor, Serviced manual reversing switch, Antique Prewar Tin Plate Engine. Made in the late 1920’S. Runs F & R, Great runner Forward and reverse. Look at the picture. Decide for your self. SEE PICTURE OF IT RUNNING. Thank you for looking You will get the engine you see!
