This is a 254E Looks original but when I bought it the guts for the old pendent type e-unit was missing. I installed a new re-built e-unit that’s more dependable. The side switch in one position allows you to forward & – reverse motor.. The other position lets it run with out it reversing. The 254 has no e-unit just the reversing manual switch on the side the 254E engines have the old Lionel pendant style e-unit. The E stands for e-unit. I bought this one because it look original but needed two new wheels, reversing switch, re-wired, and serviced. Really sharp for its age. I the brass some. THE Description is the pictures. I went over it and serviced it & tightened every thing cleaned it. Look great now and runs great. See picture of it running. Repaired what was needed to make it like it is. Very nice runner, lubed.
