Here is a Lionel 400E Standard Gauge 4-4-4 Steam Locomotive & Tender from 1936-39. The 400E is Lionel’s largest Standard Gauge Steam Locomotive and is the engine many people think of when they think Standard Gauge. It is nearly three feet long and features include a working headlight and red fire box glow light. This item has been graded per TCA standards C-6: Very Good. Take a look that this beautiful Vintage Standard Gauge 4-4-4 Steam Locomotive and Tender! You will not want to miss this beautiful Vintage Standard Gauge 4-4-4 Steam Locomotive and Tender! This set is in overall Very Good condition, with just a few minor imperfections. There are nicks and scratches along the surface of both the tender and locomotive. There are some cracks in the paint of the silver trim pieces. The locomotive frame is original but is slightly warped with some cracking along the edges. Also, the steam chest assembly is original with minor cracks as well. Some areas of paint have been touched up and the boiler front is not an original piece. When tested, our team found that the engine runs smooth but the e-unit sticks sometimes. They also found that the tender whistle tries to work but is very raspy. The overall appearance of this item may be improved with a gentle and thorough cleaning. The original box is not included. The instruction manual is not included. Check the photos for a detailed look at this item. Overall condition is Very Good. Heavy and huge piece!

Very Nice Lionel Original Prewar BOXED Gunmetal #400E Loco and Tender. Includes #400E Loco, #400T Tender, both in the early dark gunmetal color with copper trim, and both original boxes. Both pieces are all original with no repaint ever. This is an excellent example of this desirable loco! Both have wonderful paint that is clean, shiny, and displays great. Both have very light wear with only a couple small scratches. The loco has a couple small touchups to the end of the cab roof, which blend perfectly. The loco has all original wheels. All trim is intact on both. The loco number boards are replaced, as is usual with these locos. The tender box is correctly marked with all flaps, in very nice condition. The loco box has all flaps, and was used as a shipper, but is correctly marked 400 on the inside flap. It is nearly impossible to find these locos with original frame, steam chests, air tanks, and boiler front, as this loco has! Please examine photos as they are the best description. Boiler front was cracked and repaired (see photo). Has some chips in casting (see photo). Boiler is in Excellent Plus (C7+) condition except paint loss on side of frame. Frame is in Excellent (C7) condition. 400W Tender – In Excellent Plus to Like New (C7+ to C8) condition except some paint chipping. 420 Faye Pullman Car – In Like New (C8) condition. 421 Westphal Pullman Car – In Like New (C8) condition. 422 Tempel Observation Car – In Like New (C8) condition. Original boxes – tattered with some flaps missing (see pictures). This may have the most eye appeal of any train set! The Blue Comet was originally a passenger train running between New York City and Atlantic City, NJ, from 1929 to 1941 by the Central Railroad of New Jersey.
