LIONEL Prewar 248 Engine-Vintage/Antique 1926-32, Serviced, Runs, see pictures

Last one I had. I restore these oldies as a hobby for something to do. I try to salvage as many original parts as possible. Not much for my time since it’s a hobby. They are stripped (if needed & repainted) other wise I try to clean them up. Sometimes a little touch up. I use Lionel paint when I can. They are rewired and serviced as needed and check out to be sure they work. If some seem high priced it’s because there are new parts that are costly. Wheels, Couplers and outside accessories are very costly. I restored it and went over it completely replacing what was needed and salvaging what I could. Motor run very good. Vintage/Antique Lionel 248 Lionel Orange Prewar 0-4-0 Electric engine. I went over it and serviced it, repaired and replaced what was needed to make it like it is. Runs great, Very nice runner, lubed, try to used most original parts and cleaned them up, Check out the pictures. This type engine runs in forward only. The 248 didn’t have a reversing switch on them. Works and runs great. See pictures for best description. I replaced the wires and clean it. Bench tested it and it ran strong. Ead light that work. Look at the pictures and ask questions. Wheels are all good. Just trying to get the oldies back in service, I charge what I pay, plus material and very little of my time in the pricing. LIONEL Prewar 250 Engine-Vintage/Antique 1926-35 Serviced -rare type Runs great

If my price seems high I want you to know that I usually put 6-10 hours of labor restoring it to the condition it is at now. If you want one cheaper you may have to repair it and its costly. I price them for what I have in them. I list them for what I have in them. This is a hobby to bring the oldies back to life since they are my age. I bought this engine because it looked great. Only problem was bad wheels, didn’t run & missing parts, It may have been restored sometime in the past or may be original paint paint. Colors are Lionel original colors. There are a few chips on cab and wear around the switching lever. Wheels are all good now. Motor was rewired and serviced and runs and switches great. Runs in both directions just fine. New coupler and a few brass trim parts. Most 250 cabs did not have the reversing switch slot on the top. This must be a later version when Lionel was changing to the 252. Probably used left over brass 250 parts. Great looking and runs great for 90+ years old. What you see you will receive. Thank you for looking. See pictures for this is the best description. LIONEL Prewar 252 rare type RED Engine-Vintage/Antique 1926 Serviced Restored

+6This is a very nice Red 252 Lionel engine. Has reversing switch (manual) with lever on top. Run great in both directions. Bought this as a partial restore project someone had but never finished it. Lots of problems and needed painting. Need wires, wheels, repaired switch, brushes, and cleaned. Brass trim was all original and in very nice shape. Now it is a very attractive in demand engine. This engine came to me with a nice cab but paint was worn off and motor needing repairs, plus missing parts. It is over 90+ years old. I did restore the cab. Then cleaned all the original parts that I could. I replaced what was needed. New wires brushes if need etc. It is lubed serviced and bench tested. Ran engine on oval track for 10 min.
