Antique Lionel Prewar 119 L Illuminated Brass Scenic Train Tunnel Original Box

The one side of the tunnel is slightly tweaked (doesn’t sit completely flat). Tunnel shows some minor wear, staining and paint loss. Tunnel would benefit from a cleaning. Box is in pretty rough shape. Shows staining, wear, missing flap, and some writing. Still a rare box to have. Feel free to ask any questions.

THIS CAR HAS TWO ROTATING BRASS SEARCHLIGHTS RESTING ON AN ELEVATED TERRACOTTA BASE, ENCLOSED ALONG EACH SIDE BY TWO BRASS HANDRAILS. THE CAR IS ENTIRELY ORIGINAL AND WELL-PRESERVED. THE PAINT AND OVERALL APPEARANCE ARE EXCEPTIONAL (PLEASE SEE THE PICTURES). THIS ITEM ALSO COMES WITH THE ORIGINAL BOX. IT IS COMPLETE, BUT HAS AGE WEAR. THERE IS TAPE ON THE END FLAPS, AND TWO INNER FLAPS ARE MISSING ON ONE END. THE SEARCHLIGHTS WERE NOT WORKING WHEN TESTED.

This came from a collection from a man who loved the 385e and he 1835e (essentially the same engine with a few differences). It is likely that he changed some cosmetic parts to create a special piece in his collection–a cosmetic hybrid of the 1835e and 385e. It is black like the 1835e with the copper and brass trim found on the 385e rather than the nickle trim found on 1835e. THIS unit is an original Lionel unit from the 1930s which the previous owner has customized.
