Here is a beautiful original example of this complete prewar Lionel o gauge passenger set. This is set #294E, and it includes 2-4-2 #249E Steam Loco, matching 8-wheel #265W Lionel Lines Tender, both in gunmetal gray with nickel trim and plates, 2 (two) #607 Pullman cars, #608 Observation, all in two-tone green with nickel trim/plates, all of the original boxes, correct original set box, boxed set of connecting ties, boxed #88 Controller, and original instruction booklet. All pieces are all original with no repaint ever. The loco and tender are gorgeous, bright and clean showing very little wear with just a couple small nicks. There are a couple tiny touchups on the tender. All trim is intact on both, and when tested here the loco ran well both directions. The light did not come on. The whistle worked well in the tender. The tender has been re-wired. The cars are beautiful as well, showing light wear with a few small chips and nicks as seen. They have bright clean paint and display beautifully. All trim is intact on them. The nickel trim on this set makes it one of the more attractive sets produced by Lionel in this era! The loco box is nice and square with flaps missing on one end. It includes a nice original insert. The tender box is strong and square with one end flap missing. The 3 car boxes are excellent, unusually strong. They have all flaps intact except for a couple missing inner flaps. Very rarely do you see these boxes strong like this! The original set box is excellent as well, strong and square with all flaps intact and a great set number end label. The inner flaps have some clear tape added to the seams. Please examine photos as they are the best description. Beautiful example of this attractive and desirable set, perfect for the collector. Do not miss it!
