If my price seems high I want you to know that I usually put 6-14 hours of labor restoring it to the condition it is at now. If you want one cheaper you may have to repair it and its costly. This is a RED Comet Lionel 260E set with 260 tender with 4 wheel truck. I bought it and went over it by servicing it and replacing what was needed. It has a newer e-nit that works great Forward. The problem now is parts are getting almost impossible to find and cost are outrages. I know almost every dealer and no one has many if any more prewar tin plate parts. This one had a cracked frame, I finally found a reproduction frame a dealer had, die cast and bought it. Even the new parts do not always fit. I have to modify, re drill and tap holes. File and grind them to fit. That the reason that in the next 4-6 month when I complete everything I have I will not be doing any more large Lionel prewar tin plate engines. Now it looks good and runs great. Lionel did make a Red Comet very rare. I had several over the years restored. This one was red but I think someone had tried to paint it and did a bad job. So I decided to do a complete restoration. No it’s not original but if you want a restore one that has all the parts and work this is it. SEE IT ALSO RUNNING. What you see you will receive.
