Rare Lionel Prewar Standard Gauge Steam Engine #51 1912-23. 0-4-0 Black Russian iron boiler with slope-back coal tender with two 100 series trucks 18 long circa 1912-23. This is an original item and not a reproduction. This train runs strong, has solid wheels and appears to be all there except the coal bunker. Even the flag poles are present. This train is constructed of sheet steel with original rubber stanped letters. The boiler is made of Russian iron with a blued finish. The boiler band, piston rods, cross-heads adn guides are nickel plated steel. The stack, dome, boiler front, back head are wood. It has a hand reverse mechanism. This item is from my personal collection that I need to reduce to move on to the next chapter of my life. I welcome any questions you may have. Up for your consideration is a Vintage Prewar Lionel O Gauge 250E Hiawatha Steam Engine & 250W Whistle Tender in C6+ – VERY GOOD + CONDITION. THE 250E RUNS in BOTH DIRECTIONS, THE “E” UNIT WORKS and THE LIGHT WORKS. THE TENDER WHISTLE SPINS BUT IT DOES NOT WHISTLE. I don’t think there is anything major wrong. Check pictures for details. THIS COMPLETE SET, INCLUDING ALL OF THE ORIGINAL BOXES, COMES WITH A BLACK 265 LOCOMOTIVE WITH 265W TENDER, AND THREE BLUE AND SILVER PASSENGER CARS NUMBERED 600, 601, AND 602. THE 265 ENGINE, UNLIKE THE VAST MAJORITY OF THESE ENGINES WHICH HAVE BROKEN OR REPLACED CAB CASTINGS, STILL HAS ITS ORIGINAL CAB, FULLY INTACT, WITH THE CORRECT “FLAT, ” 1935 FIREWALL. THE TRAIN SET LOOKS TO BE 100% ORIGINAL AND IN EXCEPTIONAL CONDITION. I SEE NO EVIDENCE OF RESTORATION OR TOUCH-UP TO THE PAINT. PLEASE LOOK OVER THE DETAILED PICTURES CAREFULLY AS THEY WILL PROVIDE YOU THE BEST REPRESENTATION OF CONDITION. THE WHISTLE WORKED WELL WHEN TESTED. THE LOCOMOTIVE RUNS INTERMITTENTLY, SO IT WILL PROBABLY NEED SERVICE IF YOU PLAN TO RUN THE TRAIN ON YOUR LAYOUT. ALL OF THE ORIGINAL BOXES ARE THERE INCLUDING THE SET BOX. THE SET BOX HAS ALL FLAPS. ALL OF THE COMPONENT BOXES HAVE THE MAIN END FLAPS EXCEPT FOR THE ENGINE BOX WHICH IS MISSING ALL FLAPS ON ONE END. SOME INNER FLAPS ARE MISSING FROM THE CAR BOXES. THERE ARE VARIOUS TAPE AND GLUE REPAIRS TO THE CAR BOX FLAPS (PLEASE EXAMINE PICTURES). THREE OF THE SET BOX FLAPS HAVE HAVE BEEN REINFORCED INSIDE WITH TAPE. THE EXTERIOR OF THE SET BOX RETAINS THE APPROPRIATE OEM LIONEL TAPE FOR THE YEAR OF MANUFACTURE. THE ENGINE BOX HAS THE ORIGINAL CARDBOARD INSERT. THE OUTFIT ALSO COMES WITH THE ORIGINAL 1935 INSTRUCTION MANUAL FOR OPERATING THE TRAIN AND MANUALS FOR OPERATION OF THE WHISTLE TENDER AND A TRANSFORMER. I DO NOT HAVE THE TRACK FOR THIS SET.
