Lionel #253 Prewar O Gauge Electric Locomotive in Apple Green. Runs well in both directions. A 3 position e-unit was added and it works properly. When the manual reverse unit is in one position the e-unit is locked. Pretty clean with some light general paint loss and wear. The wheels are in good shape. One coupler is missing it’s latch. Please review all photos for condition.

O Gauge Lionel 253E Electric Loco Apple Green Prewar X1321

Enameled metal New Haven style electric loco is original apple green on 9 dark green frame. Loco made about 1934, has 3-position E-unit reverse, 253 on brass plates and remnants of “E” stamped on sides. Original finish is clean, has some roof edge wear, paint loss at 1 roof overhang, edge wear and some dullness on frame. Trim is brass, journals are copper, headlights are original, wiring also looks original. It has new light bulbs, diecast wheels are solid originals that roll fine. Latch is missing from 1 coupler. It ran and reversed a bit sticky when tested, got better with use. 1 PU roller is missing. Loco made for late version of North Shore Ltd set. All Items, including N. (new-old-stock), are graded and represented as vintage collectibles. Operational ability and characteristics or completeness of vintage motors, mechanisms, wiring, bulbs etc are not guaranteed. Enameled metal electric loco was made early 1930’s, has an E-unit reverse, looks original/complete, except for missing latch on 1 coupler. It is apple green with cream windows/vents, brass inserts with black lettering, brass trim, copper journals on dark green frame. Wheels are original, one has fatigue cracks and is preventing it from running, other 3 wheels look OK. It looks like original wiring, original cast lights with new bulbs. Finish has light dirt, wear mainly roof edges, there is a dent in roof monitor, corrosion on couplers and screws. It was bench-tested, reverse cycled and motor surged, tried to run, but bad wheel prevents it. Loco for North Shore Limited set. It should have an “E” rubber stamped on sides, but has worn off. All Items, including N. (new-old-stock), are graded and represented as vintage collectibles. Lionel prewar Standard Gauge 408e Apple Green Locomotive in nice shape! Some usual scratches and wear. Both pantographs are replaced with reproductions. The engine has been re-wheeled. I don’t know if the motors work but I was told that it ran. I see that the pickups show very little wear!! All of the trim are intact. The shell has very nice original paint. However, the frame may of been repainted but you be the judge (it looks too nice). This would be a great candidate to service and operate on any standard gauge layout!! UPS will be my cheapest option at this time while other companies are 2x higher on their prices. Sorry, no PO boxes accepted.
