This number was produced 1924-32, but I think this one dates to the mid to late 1920s. It is a model of the Milwaukee Road Bi-Polar type electric. O love that rounded look on the ends. Lionel made this engine in different colors and combos. Dark olive green version. Manual reverse lever, one side. With the brass handrails. Tested and runs, reverses. Small dent on roof, pictured. The brass number/nameplates and handrails appear original. Green paint seems original to me, as you can see some wear spots and oxidation. You can be the judge by enlarging the pictures. This item has been graded per TCA standards C-6: Very Good based on visual appearance. There is texture in the paint as well as various nicks and spots of paint loss throughout the shell. This model has reproduction wheels. There is wear and tarnish on the wheels & pickups. When tested it only runs in one direction. The overall appearance of this item may be improved with a gentle and thorough cleaning. The instruction manual is not included. The original box is not included. ANTIQUE PRE-WAR LIONEL ELECTRIC 250 ENGINE 0-4-0, 0 GAUGE. Up for review is the. Antique Lionel 250, O Gauge, Prewar 0-4-0 Electric Locomotive. This locomotive features a tinplate body, motor with manual reverse unit, lights, combination couplers, and metal wheels. This locomotive measures approximately 7 ½ inches long. The electric engine has a terra cotta base with orange cab. It was manufactured by Lionel in 1934. This engine runs forward and reverse. The paint and patina are what is expected for an item that is 90 years old. This electric engine is in very good condition. See pictures for more details.

Lionel 251 E Prewar (issued 1927-1932) O gauge 0-4-0 electric, good runner, VG

Excellent runner, typical period problematic pendulum reverse unit has been replaced by a standard Lionel E-unit. Nice red repaint with polished brass. Manual reverse unit is no longer present or needed (removed with pendulum reverse). Cast metal/nickel rim solid wheels and in good condition and show no evidence of corrosion. Nice crisp runner in excellent condition. Free return (with pre-approval) if not as advertised.
