Definitely need some cleaning and possibly oil and lube lights are not hooked up so was not able to test for lights see pictures.

This locomotive has been serviced, cleaned, lubricated and tested. The 258 was made in 1941 only. It features a tin gunmetal gray body with a 3 position e unit and working headlight with red markers. It also has a whistle tender that has been tested. Also included are 2 cars 1 oil tanker and 1 caboose Please look closely at all pictures. This is a train that is over 80 years old and has scratches and missing paint and the caboose has some rust spots. The locomotive runs and operates smoothly. The whistle tender also operates well.

Or handed down in the family and put up for sale. When I sell a item I go over it completely. Clean everything, make sure it run. And replace missing parts, and make sure you have a nice running train. I do spend the time and restore them if in really bad shape. Very nice refurbished and serviced antique. Vintage 248 Black Electric Loco. Came from a estate sale original owners. It need some really extensive work. Painted the shell and frame, They were really rough and well played with over the years. Lots of cleaning, Missing light I installed a new one. I replace the wheels. New light bulb and several new screws. I did service and lubed the engine and replaced one damaged gear. See video of it running. I cleaned, serviced it and test run it. Vintage/Antique Lionel 248 Prewar 0-4-0 Electric engine. 248 runs in forward only. See VIDEO of it running. NO SET BOX WAS FOUND. ENGINE BOX IS BEST IN ALL AROUND CONDITION WITH ALL FLAPS STILL INTACT! STILL VERY FIRM WITH ONLY A FEW BLEMS AS SHOWN IN PHOTOS. THE 2 COACH BOXES HAVE ONE END FLAP STILL INTACT AND MISSING FLAPS ON OTHER ENDS. THE OBSERVATION CAR BOX HAS BOTH END FLAPS MISSING AND THERE MAY BE A TEAR OR TWO HERE AND THERE. I PUT A DAB OF LIGHT WEIGHT OIL ON ARMATURE SHAFTS AND GEARS AND WAS SURPRISED JUST HOW SMOOTH AND FAIRLY QUIET MOTOR SOUNDED IN RUNNING BACK AND FORTH AS CLEARLY CAN BE SEEN IN VIDEO. THE WHISTLE UNIT MOTOR DOES SPIN AND WHISTLE RELAY DOES WORK, BUT WHISTLE WILL NOT SOUND OFF BECAUSE FROM WHAT I CAN SEE, MOST IF NOT ALL OF THE IMPELLER AIR FINS HAVE DISINEGRATED. IF YOU WANT AN OPERATING WHISTLE, YOU WILL EITHER HAVE TO GET IT REPAIRED OR REPLACE WITH ANOTHER WHISTLE UNIT. ENGINE LOOKS GOOD EXCEPT FOR SOME PAINT CHIPS JUST ABOVE WINDSHIELD AS AGAIN CAN BE CLEARLY SEEN. CARS ALL LOOK PRETTY GOOD TO ME, BUT EXAMINE ALL PHOTOS FOR YOURSELF TO DETERMINE. SOME USUAL WEAR ON THEM AS YOU CAN SEE. PLEASE NOTE ANY SHINY AREAS YOU MAY SEE IN PHOTOS ARE DUE TO PHOTO LIGHTING ABOVE AND NOT IN PAINT. ANY OTHER QUESTIONS OF INTEREST PLEASE FEEL FREE TO ASK.

This is a classic Lionel prewar O-gauge train set. Die-cast, headlight, reversing lever in cab. The brass trim could ude some shining up, but everything is complete. All the wheels are good. TESTED and runs well in both directions. Also in good condition. Note- in the pictures, two of the jounal caps are missing but they were undamaged and have been put back on the tender, so it is complete. 805 Boxcar with opening doors. 806 Ventilated stock car. Nice set from the 1930’s with a big, heavy engine.
