IVES Standard Gauge Set with #3241 Electric Locomotive & #184 Buffet & #186 Observation Passenger Car. It belonged to her grandfather and she received it in this condition. It has been on her garage shelf for a number of years. She has no train enthusiasts in her family. So, I told her I would try to find it a home where it would be appreciated and hopefully be restored. That is all we know. It comes in its original box which is not in very good shape. It comes with #3241 Electric Locomotive #184 Buffet #186 Observation Passenger Car 5 pieces of track 2 Brackets 2 Switch plates? Switch Tower Signal Transformer in original box. Plugged it in and it hummed. Set appears to be pretty much in original condition. This was difficult to pack safe and securely because it is so fragile. I have packed the train set in its Original box by itself. PLEASE ASK ANY QUESTIONS before purchasing and we will try to answer them to the best of our ability. Smoke Free – Pet Free Home. I think this set dates between the mid 1900s to the mid 1920s. It was produced by Lionel. This set can be used as a restoration project and/ or parts. The overall condition of the set is pretty rough. You can see the condition issues in the photos. The paint is flaking off, there’s scratches, and dents. It’s missing pieces. I wasn’t sure if it’d work or not. Everything is original and doesn’t come with the original box. Picked this set up at a local flea market. I hope someone will repair and restore this set back to its former glory. Thank you for looking at my listing!

AMERICAN FLYER ORIGINAL PREWAR O GAUGE TINPLATE No. 231 COALING STATION “RARE”. 231 COALING STATION, MADE IN 1935-36, O / O27 GAUGE, RARE VERY HARD TO FIND ITEM, IN 45+ YEARS COLLECTING PRE & POSTWAR GAUGE TRAINS, THIS IS THE FIRST I HAVE SEEN. This American Flyer No. 231 coaling station, which is a tin lithographed item, was introduced in 1935 and was included in ONLY THREE cataloged sets of that year and TWO uncataloged sets of 1936. MEANING NOT MANY OF THESE WERE MADE, another interesting note about the coaling station is that it was NEVER cataloged for separate sale and the only reference I have seen to its number of No. 231 is on the “COPY” of the original operating instructions(that’s included in sale). The coaling station is very simple to assemble and operate, one just has to slide the legs in the slots on the side and put track through the legs to assemble it, and then pull the lever to release the chute, the movable portion of the roof (which coincidentally is the same piece of metal as a 500 series American Flyer caboose cupola roof), slides to reveal an opening to which the unit can be loaded and the lever on the end releases the chute to unload it the three black what I believe are marbles??? Are included in sale. WHAT SEE IN THE PICTURE IS WHAT YOU RECEIVE SO CAREFULLY EXAMINE THE PICTURES PROVIDED TO AFFIRM CONDITION. I HAVE TRIED TO REPRESENT THIS ITEM AS FAIRLY AND ACCURATELY AS POSSIBLE.
