Vintage Lionel Prewar #262 O Gauge 2-4-2 Steam Locomotive Black with Copper Trim
For sale here I have the LIONEL 262E along with the 262T coal tender that are in the combo of black paint and copper trim. The locomotive is equipped with a reversing mechanism located within the cab, also a bight headlight and flag holders up front. The locomotive runs out real well, it is free of excessive lubricant’s and no grime. The paint finish is really nice with minimal paint loss, reference the photos please. The roof line of the cab is nicely rounded, the boiler front latch is sound and working. The copper accents a bit dull but are without dents, the handrails are properly shaped and the bell with ornamental whistle are intact. Both the locomotive and the tender are free of rust, I find no paint touch work, please note the drive rod of the engineer side has miner flaking of the nickel finish, finally one of two green marker lens is missing as is one handrail anchor.

Early 1930’s glossy black enameled 2-4-2 loco with E-unit reverse, has mostly copper trim, some brass. It looks original and complete, clean finish with all solid/original castings, complete pilot teeth. One non-geared drive wheel is the exception, it has some fatigue swelling/cracks, so does not sit on track right. Other wheels have some looseness on axles. It tried to run when tested, as is, not running right, needs at least 1 wheel replaced. Copper trim has light tarnish, otherwise looks clean EX, nicest looker I can remember having. All Items, including N. (new-old-stock), are graded and represented as vintage collectibles. Operational ability and characteristics or completeness of vintage motors, mechanisms, wiring, bulbs etc are not guaranteed. We do not guarantee coupler operation.
