Prewar Lionel uncataloged Outfit #362 from 1931 consisting of. 384 manual reverse black with green stripe. 309 Pullman wine/maroon with orange roof, yellow window inserts, woodgrain doors, rubber stamped “New York Central Lines” Nickel journals. Oil label on bottom. 312 observation wine/marron with orange roof, yellow inserts, yellow doors, copper journals, stamped “The Lionel Lines” No oil label on bottom. These cars were only available in this set and never shown in the catalog in these colors. The oddball differences in doors, stamping, even the one car having an oil label and the other not, are all correct for this set, and unique to it. Why Lionel did this is anyone’s guess. Some of it may have been Lionel using up old stock. Set is all original with the exception of front truck wheels on engine. In very nice condition with strong stamping on cars. Engine frame straight no signs of warping. The wheels are motor are very slightly warped, enough that the engine will not run. Though it will still sit on the track. The wheels are tight. But I wanted to offer it up as it is, because some of you may not care about that. There are boxes for 384t, 309 (stamped wine) and 312 (also stamped wine, note it’s a different type of box) No engine or set box. Boxes are in nice shape for 90+ year old cardboard and have all flaps. Contact me if you want more photos. Either way it will be very carefully packed and insured.
