Lionel Post War O 2026 Loco & Whistle Tender-1949 Orig. Boxes-runs! Gorgeous
Greetings and best wishes from Mr. Allied and welcome to my sale! Please have confidence in my 100% honest descriptions and please read the following carefully. This is an Original, No. 2026 Locomotive & No. 6466W Whistle Tender, Produced by The Master Craftsmen of The Lionel Corporation, in This Version, ONE YEAR ONLY in 1949. This is one of “THE” nicest 2026 loco sets you will probably ever see! It is just absolutely exquisite! The locomotive is diecast metal and the tender has a stamped steel frame with a heavy plastic body. Both pieces are in exceptionally nice condition, please see photos. In addition, this loco & tender have recently received a professional cleaning & lubrication, with new whistle wiring, so it’s ready to go! It is commonly said that the 1948 & 1949 models of this locomotive are essentially the same, but there are a couple of major differences, as follows. The insulation dries out, cracks and is just about impossible to replace. This issue was solved on the 1949 model. Secondly, the smoke puffing mechanism was redesigned for the 1949 model, giving it much better operating characteristics. In addition, this particular 2026 has been converted to a smoke unit that uses liquid smoke as opposed to the messy and poorly working smoke pellets. This is a simple parts swap and anyone wishing to convert it back to the original pellet system, need only change the heating element. This loco smokes better than ANY post war Lionel loco I have ever seen! I track tested the loco and it runs forward, neutral & reverse with the headlight working and the smoke puffing exceptionally well. The whistle blows strong. The original boxes are included. The loco box is missing all flaps at one end. Both cardboard inserts are included. The original instruction sheet, along with an original, 56 page Lionel Instruction Booklet are also included. Also included are a partial bottle of Lionel SP Smoke Pellets, the wooden smoke pellet tamper tool and a tube of original Lionel Lubricant. Anyway, these old eyes don’t see like they used to, so I ask that you take the time to “ZOOM IN” and look the photos over very closely, to determine for yourself just what we have here. PLEASE NOTE THAT THE PHOTOS ARE AN INTEGRAL and a VERY IMPORTANT PART OF THIS LISTING. You NEED to “ZOOM IN” and STUDY the photos very carefully. What you see is what you get. I want to EARN positive feed back from you, along with 5 Star Customer Service. THANK YOU FOR CONSIDERING THIS MR.
