Lionel 249E Engine and 265W Whistle Tender. This is a Lionel Prewar Tinplate 249E engine with a 265W whistle tender. The pair have been restored. The restoration consisted of disassembling the engine and tender. The engine and tender body and frame were repainted in the original gunmetal color. The nickel trim was cleaned and polished. The engine and whistle motor were cleaned and lubricated and all of the gears, wheels and bearings were cleaned and lubricated. The engine and tender were reassembled and tested on my O-36 layout. The engine ran correctly and the whistle sounded off when in motion. This pair can be operated or displayed.
