You are looking at a standard gauge 390 E Locomotive & Tender. This engine has the red stripe that is super rare. If you need an example of this engine this one is very fine. O Gauge Lionel 253 Electric Loco Peacock Orange Stripe E Unit Uncat Prewar X3169

Enameled metal New Haven type electric on 8.75 frame. It has original peacock finish with orange stripe at bottom edge, usually means a SPECIAL, possibly Macy. Finish is clean, has some wear, mostly edges as shown, brass trim, orange stripe matches orange windows. Headlight castings are replacement, probably some new wiring, disc-type wheels look like solid/clean originals. Motor has a 3-position E-unit reverse unit, no “E” stamped or on plates, so it probably has been added. There is no E-unit shut-off switch, but loco ran/reversed fine, lights worked when bench tested. Must sell as is, due to age. Not technically correct, but all Lionel parts, runs and looks fine, and an uncataloged variation! All Items, including N. (new-old-stock), are graded and represented as vintage collectibles. O Gauge Lionel 260E Loco Early Cream Stripe Prewar X7938

Earliest variation of 12 loco has frame with cream stripe in groove, black with brass and copper trim, made 1930. Cylinder block looks like a replacement, some new screws, side-rods and wheels are original, look cleaned. Loco overall has had some cleaning, has minor wear and small dull spots. Cab-roof has more wear, very minor corrosion, minor ding corner overhang. It otherwise looks nice with complete original trim. Loco has early 2-position brass reverser, also headlight and firebox light. Reverser needs some attention for it to run right. I was able to coax it to run in reverse and lights worked. Hard to find early version, top of the line for its era. Small red lenses in boiler front are not original. All Items, including N. RARE Lionel Original Prewar Red Stripe #390E Loco. The Red Stripe #390E loco is a piece highly sought after by collectors. IT was a separate sale piece by Lionel that was not available in sets. Typically you see #390E’s with orange stripes. The red stripe was factory hand-painted over the orange stripe, and if you look closely at this loco, you can see some specs of orange paint under the red, which is correct. This example is all original with no touchup or repaint ever. The loco has wonderful paint with only a couple small scratches. The stripe is very nice, and almost all complete, with some wear on the front section of the stripe, as seen in photos. The loco has all trim intact, minus the bell which is missing. The loco drive wheels only have been replaced, and one wheel has a couple chips, but the loco runs well well, and the light works, set up for forward only. Some new parts, new wires, Has the. Reveres and works great. I test ran it for 15 Min. Added the missing parts and serviced it. I have a 260 matching tender for it.
