LIONEL PREWAR VERY SCARCE 2624 MANHATTAN W/ TWO IRVINGTON PULLMAN CARS. This is a very scarce 2624 Manhattan Pullman with its two matching 2623 Irvington Pullmans. I believe these would have come with a 225E or 763E passenger set in 1940 or 1941. These cars that were stamped “2624” were meant to be observation cars to be pulled behind two or three Pullmans. They were never produced with the rear platform, and thus, were made into Pullmans. These three cars are a matched set with the lighter brown paint, which is correct according to my research. There are a few areas of paint loss and a missing step on one 2623. The roofs are overall pretty clean with some common spotting as shown. However, they are cleaner and have better paint than many others I have seen. All couplers are present. The window strips are all present and in good condition. Overall, this is a nice scarce matched prewar set that does not come up often. There are no original boxes. It’s what I do. Message me for more info. Take a close look at the many photos for a better sense of condition. Everything is pretty clearly shown in the photos. If I happen to misstate something in the description, please let the photos tell the story (ie, if I state there is no tape on a box, even though the photos show obvious tape, assume there is tape).
