This item has been graded per TCA standards C-6: Very Good based on visual appearance. The lights behind each house were functional when tested. Some of the house pieces have been re-painted. There’s several spots throughout the tunnel where rust has ate through the metal leaving a small hole. The tunnel shows rusting and paint loss throughout much of the body. The overall appearance of this item may be improved with a gentle and thorough cleaning. The instruction manual is not included. The original box is not included. Here is a Lionel 140L Vintage O/Standard Gauge Prewar Illuminated Tunnel. This tunnel forms a 90-degree curve. Though made of steel, it represented a snow-capped mountain that was home to seven small houses. Its ends were embossed to resemble stone tunnel portals. It was approximately 20 inches tall and had a 24 1/2 x 37 inch footprint. One bulb was installed near each portal for illumination. Minor scratches and paint nicks, minor surface rust, no dents. Standards for all toy train related accessory items apply to the visual appearance of the item and do not consider the operating functionality of the equipment. In good condition for how old it is. Lettering in good condition. Both couplers are present, all four steps and brake wheel intact. Wire railings and ladders are intact, have some corrosion. Handed down from my grandad’s collection, extremely clean set, engine is tested runs beautifully, has light, forward and reverse, rare engine as only one year made, powerful engine excellent Lionel quality for the collector or starter. AMERICAN FLYER ORIGINAL PREWAR O GAUGE TINPLATE No. 231 COALING STATION “RARE”. 231 COALING STATION, MADE IN 1935-36, O / O27 GAUGE, RARE VERY HARD TO FIND ITEM, IN 45+ YEARS COLLECTING PRE & POSTWAR GAUGE TRAINS, THIS IS THE FIRST I HAVE SEEN. This American Flyer No. 231 coaling station, which is a tin lithographed item, was introduced in 1935 and was included in ONLY THREE cataloged sets of that year and TWO uncataloged sets of 1936. MEANING NOT MANY OF THESE WERE MADE, another interesting note about the coaling station is that it was NEVER cataloged for separate sale and the only reference I have seen to its number of No. 231 is on the “COPY” of the original operating instructions(that’s included in sale). The coaling station is very simple to assemble and operate, one just has to slide the legs in the slots on the side and put track through the legs to assemble it, and then pull the lever to release the chute, the movable portion of the roof (which coincidentally is the same piece of metal as a 500 series American Flyer caboose cupola roof), slides to reveal an opening to which the unit can be loaded and the lever on the end releases the chute to unload it the three black what I believe are marbles??? Are included in sale. WHAT SEE IN THE PICTURE IS WHAT YOU RECEIVE SO CAREFULLY EXAMINE THE PICTURES PROVIDED TO AFFIRM CONDITION. I HAVE TRIED TO REPRESENT THIS ITEM AS FAIRLY AND ACCURATELY AS POSSIBLE.

WOW, here is a recent ONE OWNER Estate find of pre and post war Lionel Trains and accessories. There is a hard to find 2179WS Train set with master carton, 671 Loco with box and liner, 2046W Tender with liner and box, the correct cars with boxes (I think the Sunoco tanker is shown in a later pic, it should have a single dome, that one has a double dome), and 6467 Caboose. Master and inner boxes show wear as seen. I have NOT TESTED any parts, they are directly from the estate to you. IF YOU HAVE QUESTIONS OR NEED MORE PICS, PLEASE ASK!!! Please see all 24 pics. There some box flaps torn, missing and light wear as seen. I have not taken the one transformer out of the box, it is tied with a string just as I found it. This is a local estate find here in the Endless Mountains region of Northeast Pa and has not been offered on the market before. Thanks for looking, and have a great day!
