6.5 enameled metal tender with whistle was made for 1936 version of Red Comet set. It is light red with nickel trim, has manual hood coupler and early type diecast whistle, looks original/complete. Best side has very minor wear, looks shiny clean EX. Top and ends are similar with some edge wear. The other side has some corrosion texture/flake spots, but not terrible. Trim has some corrosion/tarnish. Wheels have some dirt, whistle has been rewired, whistle works a bit erratic on track, worked better upside-down on bench. Solenoid does not always trip as it should. Back plate has minor cracks at screws, 1 screw missing, but whistle still has good tone. It is hard to find a solid example of this early whistle. It has a pleasing high-pitch tone.
