Vintage Lionel prewar standard gauge 400e blue comet set in excellent condition. Some minor scratches and wear throughout the whole set. Some rust on the cars in the insides and out. Cars are complete with their bathrooms and chairs but I discovered that one chair has gone loose (need to be re-attached). Some of the stanchions have gone loose on some of the cars and tender. The paint on the cars has faded a little bit but still presentable. Someone a long time ago has drilled 2 holes on top of the boiler to possibly access the e-unit? Roofs on the cars are dent free! I don’t know if the engine runs but wheels turn freely and could use a good servicing before use. The motor mounts that hold the motor to the frame are loose to the point where the motor can slip out easily (easy fix). There is no cracking or fatigue to the 400e frame. Wheels have been replaced. The paint on the engine and tender looks very nice and original!! The cars can use a good cleaning in order to make it the same condition as the loco and tender. I don’t believe there has been any restoration done to the set but you be the judge. Overall, a fantastic set to put in any standard gauge collection! These will be insured.
