The 254 has no e-unit just the reversing manual switch on the side the 254E engines have the old Lionel pendant style e-unit. The E stands for e-unit. I bought this one because it look original but needed new wheels, reversing switch, re wired some, and serviced. Really sharp for its age. Could polish the brass-I did not.
