Lionel Prewar Flying Yankee Streamline Passenger Set 616, 617, 617, 617, and 618 – O Gauge. For sale is the famous Lionel Flying Yankee. Set, along with several written pieces of information on the set. Runs Well, See Video. This Prewar Set sale includes. 616W Engine, with working whistle. Three 617 Pulman Coaches. Estibules plus the light in the 618. Offered by Lionel from 1935 to 1941. The set has a few paint dings and some scratches. Top of the engine shows wear. The engine has a bent front fender, as shown in the pictures. Not so noticeable when on the track. Runs and reverses well. Whistle sounds as can be heard in the video. From my reading on these trains, The low center of gravity made the Flying Yankee a high-speed kid pleaser. American Flyer Burlington Zephyr’s were known to be top heavy and unstable. The 616 set in this sale can run really fast. It has the reverse e-Unit. Whistle in the engine unit works. Lights in all vestibules light up as can be seen in the video. One pick-up on one vestibule is the roller type vs. The spring type on all the others. Metal wheels, trucks and axles. The window celluloid inserts on the engine and all cars looks to original. Item: Lionel Prewar Locomotive. Scale: O or O-27. Box / Condition: Original Box for loco only. Description: Lionel Prewar O / 0-27 Steam Locomotive. I also cannot guarantee that there are no missing parts, or that all the parts are original. I also cannot guarantee that the Loco & Tender are a match. This one looks really nice, I do not see any missing parts the loco runs pearl smooth in reverse only, I can hear the e-unit clicking, the whistle works in the tender but needs oil. The tender is missing 2 rear screws to hold the shell on. TCA (Train Collectors Assoc) Standard for Grading. Brand New all original, unused and unblemished. Complete all original, no rust, no missing parts, may show effects of being on display and/or age, may have been run. All original minute scratches and paint nicks, no rust and no missing parts. No distortion of component parts. Minor scratches and paint nicks, minor spots of surface rust, free of dents. May have minor parts replaced. GOOD – Sign of play wear with scratches and minor paint loss. Small dents, minor surface rust. Evidence of heavy use. FAIR – Scratched, moderate paint loss, dented missing parts, surface rust. Requires major body repair. Heavily scratched, major rust and missing parts. C-2 – Restoration required. C-1 – Junk, parts value only.
