RARE Pride Lines production of Lionel Prewar Hiawatha in Green & Gold 1 of 5
This is a very special set. When John Davanzo was producing the Scrooge McDuck Trolley, he was very taken with the deep green and gold leaf color combination. On a whim, he decorated 5 Hiawatha Passenger Sets that happened to be laying in his shop at the same time. These five sets were never catalogued or publicized. The set is referenced on the TCA Western Division Webpage on Pride Lines. Pride Lines locomotives had pot-metal side rods that did not hold up. This locomotive has been upgraded with all of its side rods using original Prewar Lionel Parts. Also, the Pride Lines connectors in the vestibules were brittle and broke easily. Many of these have been replaced with original Lionel parts. The cars light up, and the locomotive runs very smoothly and pulls the cars easily on O72 track. You must have a 20-25 Volt transformer such as a prewar Z type to operate Pride Lines locomotives.
