Lionel Prewar Standard Gauge #6 Steam Locomotive. The 4-4-0 wheel arrangement, known as the American, was in widespread use near the beginning of the 20. Not surprisingly then, Lionel chose to base a toy on this style locomotive. Measuring with tender 18 inches long, it was a part of the product line from 1906-23. There is no stamping on either the engine or tender. I suspect it was repainted at some point perhaps in the 40s or 50s. She is a great runner!
