Here we have the famous Standard Gauge Passenger Set that Lionel produced from the late 1920’s into the mid 1930’s. This set was probably from the early 1930’s making it nearly 90 years old. I got this about twenty years ago. The brass trim looks to be all original, some of the nickel trim looks to have been replaced – probably because the nickel couplers and coupler pockets were oxidized – the Observation railing was either replated or replaced it appears. The set looks to be complete. One roof and one section of a car side need some attention at some point but this set will look quite stately on a shelf – perhaps with your lonely 400E!!
