The locomotive features a diecast construction with a motor and metal wheels. The tender features a plastic construction with a whistle, metal trucks, metal wheels, and couplers. Brought onto the scene in the late 19th century and continuing use into the early 20th century, the 2-6-2 was a durable little model with some even surviving through the first World War seeing continued use in smaller capacities. These models were used for a variety of purposes from hauling coal loads to pulling smaller passenger cars. The North American model soon became known as the “Prairie” model and would quickly become a favorite in rail-yards around the world! This item has been out on display previously and its overall appearance could be significantly improved with a thorough dusting or a light wipe down. The instruction manual is not included.
