Now is your chance to own this operating piece of Lionel railroading history from before World War II. This is a C7 quality, clean, refurbished, and tested Lionel 250-watt Type Z transformer, including its original instructions. The Lionel Type Z was carried over from pre-war production and was available during the postwar period from 1945 until 1947. This Type Z was produced in 1941, before the United States entry into World War II. It is capable of producing 250 Watts of power across four independent circuits, each capable of delivering 6-25 volts. This is of particular value when different types of loads operate best at different voltages. Using this powerhouse, not as pictured in the instruction sheet, but, in conjunction with one or more ZW transformers, to offers the operator of a medium to large layout 4 independent circuits to power such divers loads as. Lighted accessories (12-14 volts) track switches (16 -18 volts) motorized accessories (18-20 volts) vibrating accessories (8-12 volts). And leave running the trains to the. It was built in 1941, and is a true veteran. I have personally rebuilt and refurbished it on the inside, to make it operate better than when it left the factory. I have also thoroughly cleaned and polished it on the outside so it nearly looks like new. The transformer refurbishment includes. Thorough cleaning to remove 80+ years of accumulated dirt. New copper-infused rollers (for better conductivity and longer life than carbon rollers). New fast-acting 15-amp circuit breaker (instead of the original one). New color-coded high temperature 14-gauge wire in the basic circuits. New proper insulation on the secondary taps. Carbon-infused grease on all conductive moving parts (except the rollers). Polishing and buffing the outside so it nearly looks like new. The transformer has been fully tested and works perfectly. Each of the circuits puts out 6.0 to 25 volts. This is a real powerhouse. It is now ready to provide another 80+ years of trouble-free service. The first (main) picture shows the finished C7-rated transformer. Pictures 2 through 5 show internal pictures of the work-in-progress: picture 2 shows rhe bottom with the A and B rollers picture 3 show the re-installed core, the top frame, and the C and D rollers picture 4 shows some of the new wiring in the back of the transformer picture 5 shows the bottom of the transformer with wiring, new insulation, and new circuit breaker installed. Pictures 6 through 9 show the finished reassembled Z. Picture 10 and 11 shows the 3-paged instruction sheet.
