Missing decorative boiler whistle. Motor runs well, cleaned lubed. But like all large, heavy diecast steam engines of this era, it is designed to run on higher voltages from larger transformers. Valve gear looks new. Possibly wrong valve gear (binding). Whistle in tender works very well. Please examine photos carefully. Photos: These are photos of the actual item unless noted on the photo. It looks like it might have been clear-coated at some point and it is flaking off? Whistle rattles, operation erratic. Please examine photos carefully. Lionel PreWar #225E 2-6-2 Locomotive with #2245W Whistle Tender from 1938 to 1942 production years. Note: Second last bottom of tender incorrectly stamped “2224T” – frame may have been switched while trucks & whistle from a 2245W or a 2224W (identical metal tenders) were added over the past 80 yrs… Prewar mystery since this was not in my family and do not know the full history. Layout Tested, Oiled, Cleaned and Lubed to run well and operate as designed.

I honestly do not have the skill or resources to test these 2 pre-war, 1938-42 Lionel, O-gauge metal train cars. The first is a 225E (2-6-2, I believe) Locomotive engine & the second is a coal carrying tinder car. If you require a different angle, a closer-up image, or something that is important that we overlooked- please ask, and we can send you individual photos in reply to your message. These cars are cool & heavy! Appear to be in very fine, display, shape. Our hope is that anyone who can test or repair (if needed) these train cars, that you can get them up and running!
