This Lionel 1666E Prewar Steam Locomotive with 2689T Tender in Gunmetal Grey is a stunning piece of history from the 1938-42 era. It is a AC-powered type with a 2-6-2 wheel configuration and is ideal for model railroad enthusiasts aged 8 and up. The locomotive has a front headlight and a non whistling tender. The Engine has been track tested and runs Excellent, very smooth. Has been run around the Christmas tree for many years. The color of the locomotive is unique, adding an element of rarity to this piece. This train is perfect for those who love to collect and display model railroads and trains. The C-7 Excellent grade is a testament to the quality of the product. This Lionel locomotive and tender set is sure to be the highlight of any collection. Normal wear as expected for a piece 85 years old and one track contact is missing on the bottom of the engine as seen in the pics.

This prewar 249E and tender have been completely restored. It looks fantastic and runs too. I didn’t do the restoration but the person who did did a fantastic job. The attention to detail. All the bright work lights decals are spot on. The only thing missing is the bar to attach the tender is missing. It is truly a beautiful piece. This item has been graded per TCA standards C-6: Very Good. The locomotive’s cab has been custom painted. The locomotive and tender show pitting throughout various sections of the shell. These items show scratches and spots of paint loss throughout various sections of the shell and chassis. These items show spots of rust on the chassis and trucks. The overall appearance of each item may be improved with a gentle and thorough cleaning. This item has been inspected by our repair shop. Please see the attached picture for inspection details and additional operation information. The instruction manual is not included. The original box is not included.
