Very Nice Original Lionel PreWar Hiawatha Passenger Sets. One of the premier prewar O gauge sets. The set is very clean and ready for display. I will describe in detail so PLEASE READ. 250E Steam Locomotive Engine/no box. Track tested and runs forward…. At first the eunit was alittle sticky but this improved immediately after just a minute or so. It still gets hung up occassionally in one of the forward gears I think that the e-unit drum may have a small “notch” that is causing this in the one rotation… And if you are familiar with repairing/replacing e-unit drums you will know what I mean. I was very surprized at how quietly and smoothly the engine ran. I have had this in my possesion for 30+ years and it was not run but just displayed in my train room until it was packed away about 5 years ago. This engine has the thicker boiler casting and also the diecast front truck (see close up pic) which is the harder variation of this engine to find. 250W 12-Wheel Whistle Tender/no box. Track tested and whistle works… Has a good whistle but it “groans” a little and I think a dab of lube would remedy this nicely. 782 Head End Passenger Car/OB… Nice solid original box still sealed at one end. The die cast head is broken on the underside where the stud for connecting the tender should be. I simply inserted a screw/nut and this held nicely worked well while I had it displayed… See close up pic. Both sides of the car are pictured. There is some warpage of the maroon frame on this car which is not uncommon.
